Simplicity As a Focus and Operating System

Gravitating Toward What Works, is Elegant, is Clear

Although people don’t often think of SIMPLICITY as a guide for our professional and personal lives, the benefits of embracing simplicity as a focus, a mindset, and as an operating system are immense.

Simplicity is about clearing physical clutter, eliminating self-imposed mental clutter, pairing down, and practicing decisiveness. Ways to simplify our work and home lives include:

  • Take a look at how you spend your time, money, and bandwidth.

  • Curb time spent with electronics, social media, and nonstop distraction.

  • Beware of Always-Busy. Each day before you set yourself in motion, note quiet, what’s good, and the day to come.

  • Become particular about what you bring into your home.

Simplicity suggests relaxation and ease - ease perhaps in the way we dress, speak, arrange belongings and spaces, the ways we interact, and how we present ourselves. For some, simplicity is about paring down possessions. For others, it’s about changing time-stealing habits or taming overly-busy days and minds.

Simplify what you do and how you do it with quality and clarity top of mind. Focus on what you create each day with an eye on simplicity, and watch the benefits flow.
